The Aachen Biology and Biotechnology department strives for the synchronization of scientific and industrial innovation processes, in order to shorten the innovation cycle. Within the different institutes, a significant emphasis is placed on applied research, built from a strong basis of fundamental science.
The aim of our research is the development and application of enzyme-module-systems for the synthesis of neoglycoconjugates and their utilization for Glyco-BioInterface Engineering - the biofunctionalization of biomaterial surfaces and biomedical diagnostics.
We design and construct microbial cell factories for the production of valuable metabolites and develop molecular tools for the editing of genomes as well as biosensors for high-throughput screening on the single cell level.
The Aachen Protein Engineering Symposium AcES is a scientific and educational conference which is organized by the Aachen Biology and Biotechnology group of Prof. Schwaneberg at the RWTH Aachen University.
